It’s all abuzz in the New Forest at present with the upcoming New Forest Food Festival. The team at The Maples didn’t want to miss out on all the fun and decided to put on an indulgent New Forest High Tea. This will be held on Saturday 5th November from 3pm until 5pm £15.00 per person. High tea is such a delicious treat!
As Henry James famously said
“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea.”
You may be wondering what is the difference between an “afternoon tea” and a “high tea”. An afternoon tea has sandwiches, scones and cakes, traditionally it is served on sofas. Whereas a high tea serves savoury items in addition to sandwiches, scones and cakes, this is eaten at a table. Rest assured both options are delicious and basically means that you’ll be getting more treats!
We have created a menu that consists of all that you come to expect in an afternoon tea with some additional delights. There will be everything you would come to expect in an afternoon tea, but all locally sourced using New Forest Marque produce, including:
High Tea Menu
Finger sandwiches with an assortment of fillings;
Quiche slices;
Savoury bites;
Buttery fruit scones with The Maples strawberry jam and clotted cream;
A selection of homemade cakes;
Pastries; and
Tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
Gluten free will be available by prior arrangement. All served on vintage bone china crockery with cake stands and tablecloths. For further information or to book the New Forest High Tea please telephone 023817 82640. Booking closes Friday 4th November.
