Long gone are the days when we started a job from school or university and retired from it forty plus years later. It is becoming the new norm to not only change jobs but to also change career paths.  For example, Martin and I between us have been in eight different industries before The Maples and The Maples Bookkeeping.  Many people dream of becoming a beautician, pilot or a seafarer. Within five minutes walk or drive of Hythe we have three very different training companies The Cottage, CTC Aviation and Fire-Aid Academy who can help turn these dreams into reality!

The Cottage Training Centre – beauty and massage

The Cottage Training Centre is an industry leader in beauty, massage, complementary and holistic therapies. Founded in 2004 with the principle of small intimate classes offering one-to-one tuition or classes of no more than six therapists.  All of the courses are certified with students receiving individual attention and support throughout. Students feel welcomed and comfortable in the friendly learning environment resulting in students are able to feel confident with their new skills.  This unique training facility is in the centre of Hythe, 3 minutes walk from The Maples.

CTC Aviation

Many people dream about becoming a pilot and flying planes to far-flung destinations.  At CTC Aviation they are one of the world’s leading approved training organisations recognised by both aviation regulators and airlines internationally for delivering airline standard training, to both aspiring and qualified airline pilots. They offer a number of routes to become qualified as a professional pilot. The airline pilot selection and resourcing is held at Dibden Manor, five minute drive from The Maples.

Fire-Aid Academy

“Going to sea” and becoming a sailor is another career dream.  There are mandatory training requirements for seafarers wishing to go to sea. This includes lifeboat, security, passenger safety, sea survival and firefighting courses.  At Fire-Aid they have a purpose built facility to be real to life on ship as possible.  With a training ship replicating types of vessels commonly found at sea and a fire unit with extensive compartments.  Split over different levels to produce true to life training scenarios to make an unforgettable and challenging course. Offering a variety of courses including lifeboat, security, passenger safety, sea survival and firefighting courses,  All within 3 minutes’ walk of The Maples.
