Welcome to our second quarterly Maples newsletter!
We received such a lovely response to our first newsletter that we’ve decided to send out some further updates about events that are happening locally to The Maples along with other information that we hope you’ll find useful.
Last time, we told you about how Elizabeth was up to her elbows in oranges, producing batches of marmalade. Well, we’re extremely proud to say that her efforts have been rewarded, not only by complements from our clientele, but also by receiving a Merit Award from ‘The World’s Original Marmalade Awards’!
We’ve recently begun serving Afternoon Tea, which has proved popular with our guests and locals alike. We’ll be laying these on again from time to time and have an Afternoon Tea Weekend in the diary for the 27th-28th May, so contact us to book yourself a place at the tea trolley…
During the last three months, we’ve continued with our programme of redecoration by giving the dining room a fresh lick of paint and a nice new dresser. We’re always looking for ways to make your stay even better; rooms four, five and six now have 28″ Smart TVs, along with new clocks and feedback clipboards in every room.
We’ve also produced a glossy new leaflet – if you’d like a copy, send us your postal address and we will wing one over to you.

Art, Design, Antiques and Vintage Market
Hythe will be host to this speciality market on four dates throughout 2017. You’ll find an eclectic mix of new and old treasures and works of art, nestling under the blue and white gazebos, just waiting to be discovered. You might grab yourself a genuine antique work of art, some fifties haut couture or jewellery that grandma used to wear, or a stunning original that you can buy direct from the artist.

…the New Forest Walking Festival returns from 14th – 29th October. We’ll tell you more about it next time but if you sign up for the festival’s newsletter then you’ll receive notification of Early Bird Bookings that start from July.

Family Outings
There are plenty of attractions in and around the New Forest to while away the days. Paultons Park is a must for those with Peppa Pig obsessed youngsters.
If you prefer your animals to be real then the New Forest Wildlife Park has an enormous variety from dainty butterflies to wild boar and grey wolves!
And if you still need to burn off some energy then why not get on your bike with Trax Bike Hire. The Trax team will deliver fully-serviced bicycles to The Maples ready for you to explore the area on two wheels…
Eating Out
New eateries in Hythe
Since the last newsletter Hythe has seen some exciting new developments with the introduction of Jack ‘N’ Grills burger & steak restaurant. And the new owners at La Vista Italian have introduced a new menu and changes to their dining area. We’re also looking forward to the opening of Portofino – a new restaurant in the heart of Hythe that looks like it could be offering some tasty treats – we’ll keep you posted…
